PSN issues on PS4 and PS5

According to the official PlayStation Status website, some parts of the PSN are defective and are experiencing problems. Specifically, the PlayStation Status website spreads the word that Sony is aware that PS5, PS4, PS3 and PlayStation Vita players are having “difficulty launching games, applications and networking features.” And, according to the support page, these problems have been going on for a few hours and right now it is not known when they will be solved.

While the social and gaming elements of the PSN are having problems, all other aspects of the PSN – Account Management, PlayStation Now, PlayStation Video, PlayStation Store, PlayStation Music and PlayStation Direct – are working normally, however, reports are starting to have problems with the purchase and download of games from the PlayStation Store.

At the time of publication, it is not clear how widespread the problem is or what the problem is, and as mentioned, it is also not clear when a solution will be published. Usually, these issues are resolved quickly, however, this has been going on for a few hours at the moment, which may suggest that it is a larger issue that Sony may need more time to address.

That being said, this is an evolving story, so we will be sure to update it as official updates appear. At this time, none of the official PlayStation social media accounts have addressed the issues, so updates are unlikely to come this way, but the PlayStation Status website is real-time and will provide those updates.
