White House press secretary Jen Psaki cut off a Fox News Radio reporter who asked about the president’s order on gender discrimination during Tuesday’s daily press conference.
The exchange with Fox News Radio White House correspondent Rachel Sutherland comes a day after Psaki mocked another reporter from the same network asking about the creation of “green jobs” in the wake of the canceled Keystone XL pipeline.
Sutherland asked about the concerns of some critics of the order, who say that school-age transgender girls can participate in girls’ sports competitions, potentially creating an uneven playing field.
“What message would the White House have to trans girls and cis girls who could compete against each other,” Sutherland asked. “It raises a number of lawsuits and concerns among parents, so does this administration have guidelines for schools in dealing with the issue that arises about trans girls fighting against and with cis girls?”
“I’m not sure what your question is,” replied Psaki.
Sutherland continued, “The executive of the president has …” before being dismantled by Psaki.
“I am familiar with the order, but what was your question about it?” the press secretary fired back.
“The question is, does the president have a message for local school officials when dealing with these kinds of disputes that are already starting to arise between trans girls competing against cis girls, and a level playing field, especially in high school sports it leads to scholarships? , ”Said Sutherland.
“Is there any kind of reporting or clarification the White House is willing to give about the executive order?” she added.
“I would just like to say that the president believes trans rights are human rights, which is why he has signed that executive order,” Psaki said. “In terms of the findings by universities and colleges, I would certainly leave them to them.”
Biden’s warrant, signed on his first day in office, aims to enforce a Supreme Court ruling from last year that bans discrimination based on a person’s gender identity and sexual orientation.
