PS5 owners report that DualSense is now doing a better job of recreating PS4 noise for compatible rear games • Eurogamer.net

Sony released an update to the PlayStation 5’s DualSense controller this week, and reports indicate that it has improved the noise effect for PlayStation 4 compatible rear games.

The DualSense update, released along with the big firmware update for the PS5, which finally allows you to move games to USB storage, has no official patch notes, leaving players to find out what has changed.

Eurogamer news distribution: the improvements the PS5 desperately needs

Reports show that DualSense vibration is now more pronounced when playing PS4 games. Since the PS5 came out in November, it has felt that the vibration on DualSense when playing PS4 games has been weak compared to how it feels when playing PS4 games on a real PS4. Obviously, the noise created by DualSense, which uses haptic feedback technology, is different from the noise created by DualShock 4 engines.

It seems that now, after the update, the feedback you receive from DualSense more closely mimics the feeling of DualShock 4 noise – when you play PS4 games, that is.

“In games like Rocket League and God of War, it made a valuable difference,” said TJangoRechained.

“After playing backwards compatibility games for five months, it’s something I noticed right away. I don’t understand why it wasn’t mentioned in their notes like anything else. Maybe they intend to perfect it even more over time.”

“I’ve been playing Ratchet and Clank PS4 for the last two days and haven’t received that much feedback,” _Shad0wo3 said. “I tried it today, after the update, and the controller was very responsive.”

I’m not sure why Sony wouldn’t announce such a change. Looks like it would be welcome! But back then, Sony was never the one to remove the dirt with its patch notes, leaving the community a lot to fend for itself.
