Prosser: 2021 iMac will come in five colors, Apple Silicon Mac Pro will look like Mac Mini-stacked

Jon Prosser said today that the upcoming 2021 iMac models will offer five color options, reflecting the fourth-generation iPad Air colors, and revealed a number of additional details about the Mac Pro with Apple Silicon.

In a new video on the FrontPageTech YouTube channel, Prosser explained that the redesigned iMacs will come with options for Silver, Space Space, Green, Sky Blue and Rose Gold.

He shared renderings on what these new color options might look like on a redesigned ‌iMac‌, but noted that he has yet to see the back of the new design, so his renderings are purely speculative beyond color.

Prosser explained that the range of color options aims to capitalize on the nostalgia for the original ‌iMac‌, which came in a selection of iconic colors such as lime, strawberry, blueberry, grape and tangerine.

Redesigned iMacs with thinner frames and ‌Apple Silicon‌ chips have been waiting for some time, but it’s not clear exactly when they will be released this year or if both sizes of the model will come out at the same time.

Prosser also highlighted a number of additional details about the future of the Mac Pro with Apple Silicon, in support of previous rumors in BloombergMark Gurman. Gurman said the new “Mac Pro” will be less than half the size of the current “Mac Pro”, placing it somewhere between the existing “Mac Pro” and the Mac mini. It is speculated that the device has a mostly aluminum exterior and can “invoke nostalgia” for the Power Mac G4 Cube.

Prosser has now said that the new “Mac Pro” will have a design that looks like “three to four mini Macs stacked on top of each other” and will provide renderings of the alleged new look.

Internally, Prosser says the “Mac Pro” will be designed with “the computing unit at the bottom” and “a large radiator at the top.”

At the end of last year, Bloomberg reported that Apple plans to launch the new smallerMac Pro‌‌ smaller with “Apple Silicon” by the end of 2022, but could arrive as early as this year.
