Prosecutor receives complaint against ambassador accused of waste – Offenses – Justice


The prosecutor’s office stressed that on Wednesday it received a complaint against the Colombian ambassador to the UN, Adriana del Rosario Mendoza Agudelo.

The accusing entity indicated that it was an investigation and did not mean that there was a formal investigation against it.

“The prosecutor’s office will analyze items to determine if there are merits to open
that investigation, “the prosecutor said.

The official is also under disciplinary investigation by the General Prosecutor’s Office for alleged irregularities in the management of public resources allocated to the diplomatic mission, in terms of 2018, 2019 and 2020.

Apparently, Mendoza Agudelo bought luxury personal belongings for her residence with official money and it seems that she paid expensive bills with state resources in unofficial documents.

It is also being investigated in the disciplinary process whether the ambassador suffered an alleged forgery of a public and private document, as well as a possible tax evasion, allegedly buy a BMW van with public money for personal use and not for diplomatic service, as it were.

It is also being investigated whether the head of the diplomatic mission submitted to the Swiss government invoices for entertainment expenses as if they were personal shopping vouchers, taking into account the fact that foreign diplomats have the right to request a refund once a year.
