Professor Ana Gloria de la Cruz de Estrella, mother of businessman Manuel Estrella, has died

On Thursday morning, the famous professor Ana Gloria de la Cruz de Estrella, the mother of the president of Multimedios del Caribe and of the Estrella Group, the engineer Manuel Estrella, passed away from Covid-19.

The educator was hospitalized at the Metropolitan Hospital of Santiago (HOMS), where He remained for several days receiving medical care, but the health complications caused by the virus worsened.

His relatives Manuel, Lissette and Alejando Estrella de la Cruz mourn the loss of their mother, who died at the age of 80.

Born on 15 November 1932 in the municipality of Tenares in the province of Hermanas Mirabal (Salcedo), Professor Cruz de Estrella had a long career in Dominican education which has been recognized on multiple occasions.

From humble origins, he comes from a peasant family consisting of eight brothers procreated through the marriage of Arturo De la Cruz and Heriberta Camilo.

Service in Dominican education

At just 19, she began her career as a teacher in the country’s education system in the sixth year of Salustio Morillo Elementary School in the municipality where she saw her birth, where she later taught at various degrees until 1965.

In the same year he moved with his family to the Villa Progreso sector in the province of Santiago, where he taught as a founding teacher of the Padre Fortin School, later he was a teacher at Francisco Villaespesa Primary School and Hoya del Caimito School.

According to his relatives, Professor Cruz de Estrella’s house has always been “open” to teach those who need it and have an interest in learning and developing.

His uninterrupted work of 35 years of teaching was honored on September 20, 2018, when the former president, Danilo Medina, inaugurated a high school with his name in the Villa Progreso sector of Santiago.
