Prince Philip’s coffin arrives at Windsor Castle amid tight security

Prince Philip’s coffin arrived at a fortified castle in Windsor on Saturday morning in preparation for his afternoon funeral.

Enhanced security measures include rooftop snipers and hundreds of officers wearing purple vests stationed throughout the city, with local reports referring to the “Steel Ring” instead of sending the Duke of Edinburgh.

Police are ready to start closing roads if crowds start gathering, despite warnings urging the public to stay away.

Armed police officers wearing body armor – not a common sight in Britain – patrolled the historic city and police boats moved up and down the River Thames, The Sun reported. Police even sent divers to the sewers near the castle, where Prince Philip will be buried in St. George’s Chapel.

The coffin was moved at 11 a.m. by a party at the Queen’s Company, 1st Grenadier Gardi Battalion to the royal residence, according to The Sun. Prince Philip served as Colonel of the Grenadier Guards for 42 years.
