Prince Charles posted a montage of photographs over Prince Philip’s nearly 100-year life in an emotional tribute to “his dear father.”
Charles, the heir to the 72-year-old throne of Great Britain, used his official Clarence House social media pages on Tuesday.
“My dear father was a very special person,” he wrote in an Instagram caption, quoting his own Saturday speech, praising “his father’s most remarkable and devoted service.”
To stimulate piano music, Charles’ montage began with his father and mother, Queen Elizabeth II, along with him and his sister, Princess Anne, when they were both small children.
Many of the other 37 photos used for the video show that Philip enjoys tender moments with his family – often making the queen and her children laugh at what Prince William’s nephew called “the mischievous sense of humor”.
Others pointed to Philip in a more formal setting, with Clarence House observing how the late Duke of Edinburgh “was associated with 992 organizations, whether as president, patron, honorary member or in any other capacity.” throughout his life.
“This week, @TheRoyalFamily takes a look back at these causes the duke was passionate about,” the caption read.
Philip, the longest-lived royal consort in British history, died at Windsor Castle on Friday, just two months after his 100-year shyness. His funeral is Saturday.
