Presidents Day snowstorm 2021 is forming and arriving tonight

DETROIT A winter weather advisory is in effect for Detroit and all of Southeast Michigan until noon Tuesday.

There is a flood warning in effect along the St. Clair River.

The Valentine’s Day 2021 Storm bringing snow and ice to Texas and the Deep South will be Presidents Day Snow Storm 2021 for Detroit and Southeast Michigan. Two rounds of snow are planned; one in the morning and the other from late Monday to early Tuesday.

Two rounds of snow will arrive in Detroit and Southeast Michigan from late tonight through Tuesday morning.

The first round arrives after midnight, Sunday. Nighttime lows are in the top single digits as light snow showers pour through the region. Much of it will be gone after breakfast Monday morning, and 1 to 8 inches is possible by mid-morning.

Presidents Day, Monday afternoon will be mostly cloudy and very cold. Highlights in the middle teens.

The second round of snow has an impact on the region late Monday afternoon, Monday evening, Monday evening and Tuesday morning. The snow will be more scattered and intense. An additional 3 to 7 inches is possible by the end of Tuesday morning.

A total of 6 to 9 or 10 inches of snow is possible. The greater amounts of snow (7-10 inches) are reserved for areas closer to the Great Lakes and the Detroit River and St. Clair River (from Port Huron via Mt. Clemens, Monroe and Luna Pier). The smaller amounts of snow, which will still be significant (5 to 8 inches), will be in neighborhoods much further north and west of Detroit (Livingston County via Flint, Lapeer and Sandusky).

Tuesdays will be very cold with midday temperatures in the higher teens.

Wednesday it will be partly sunny and cold. Daytime temperatures will be in the low 20s.

Thursday there is a chance of snow showers. The maximum temperature is almost 30 degrees.

Friday and Saturday will again have a mix of clouds and sun. Highlights will be in the mid-1920s.
