President Hernández is calling on the people to vote en masse in the by-elections

The President of Honduras, Juan Orlando Hernández, has asked the population to stand for mass voting for their favorite candidates in the internal elections that will take place on March 14 nationally.

The president called for participation in the election process, for the public appearance and for “strengthening democracy” with his vote.

“I want to invite all Hondurans without distinction of political party to participate in consolidating democracy in transparent elections that allow the election of those you consider the best candidates for the general election,” he said.

Nine presidential candidates are seeking candidacy in the general election. Four candidates are from the Free Party (Carlos Eduardo Reina, Xiomara Castro, Wilfredo Méndez and Nelson Ávila); two from the National Party (Nasry Asfura and Mauricio Oliva); three from the Liberal Party (Luis Zelaya, Yani Rosenthal and Darío Banegas).

“I want to call on the people to go to the polls in the internal elections,” the president said in the middle of an act at the beginning of the celebration of the Bicentennial of the Independence of the Homeland in Central America at the Presidential House.

Hernandez, ended its appeal by asking the population to go to the polling stations in accordance with biosecurity measures and thus prevent the spread of the covid virus. “Go and vote en masse with your protection, with the mask on you,” he concluded.
