WASHINGTON, December 19, 2020 – Nestlé Prepared Foods, a plant in Springville, Utah, recalls approximately 92,206 kilograms of LEAN CUISINE baked chicken flour products that may be contaminated with foreign materials, especially pieces of white hard plastic, Food Safety and Inspection Service FSIS) of the US Department of Agriculture. announced today.
Baked chicken flour products were produced and packaged on September 2, 2020. The following product may be recalled: [View Label (PDF only)]
- 8 5/8-oz. (244g) cardboard trays “Baked chicken LEAN CUISINE, white chicken with stuffing, red mashed potatoes and sauce” with lot code 0246595911 and the date “Best Before” from October 2021.
The products to be recalled bear the unit number “EST. P-9018 ”inside the USDA inspection mark. These items have been shipped to retailers and distributors nationwide.
The problem was discovered on December 18, 2020, by the company, after receiving five consumer complaints related to the hard white plastic found in the product. The company considers that the mashed potatoes used in the production of baked chicken products had pieces of a plastic conveyor belt that broke during production.
FSIS has not received any reports of injury or illness due to the consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an injury or illness should contact a healthcare provider.
FSIS is concerned that some products may also be frozen in consumer freezers. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products must be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.
FSIS routinely performs recall effectiveness checks to verify which firms are notifying them. customers and that steps are taken to ensure that the product is no longer available to consumers.
