At the time of this publication, the only member of the community who has expressed an interest in chairing the party is the President of the Senate, Jose Luis Dalmau Santiago.

The mayor of Morovis, Carmen Maldonado, announced his intention to chair the PPD, but reported this morning that he resigned. In turn, he explained that his reason for not continuing was due to the “macho attitudes” shown by some members of the Governing Council.

They react to accusations of machismo

Following these allegations, several La Pava leaders, including Dalmau Santiago himself and the former governor Departure from García Padilla, denied that it was this kind of attitude.

“I have a Senate of 12 and six are women. The People’s Party has the first female governor in Puerto Rico in its history, and I have great friends and civil servants, such as the mayor of Loíza,” the senator told reporters.

In the same way, García Padilla spoke, announcing that he had communicated with Maldonado and suggested that it was an outbreak of anger.

He knows that’s not true. Courage maybe, but he knows it’s not trueSaid the former governor.

Instead, on arriving at the PPD headquarters to attend the meeting, Maldonado avoided questions from the press and declined to comment.

“Out of respect for the institution, I will wait for the council meeting and later provide the relevant information,” the city executive reported.
