As COVID-19 is distributed to healthcare workers across the country, misleading reports about the vaccine are on the rise.
A post that went viral on social media claims that a Tennessee nurse died shortly after she was vaccinated.
After analyzing this topic, I found some problems – Not true.
The nurse disappeared after she was shot, she confirmed during an interview with WRCB TV, but said it was due to her medical condition, not the vaccine.
“I have a history of a vague over-reactive response, and therefore, if I have pain in my nails, nails, or stick in my toes, I can faint,” nurse Tiffany Dover told WRCB.
Chattanooga Hospital, CHI Memorial, issued a press release to provide more details about the condition.
Although fainting after vaccination is rare, the CDC says vaccinations have happened before.
About 3 percent of men and 3.5 percent of women reported fainting at least once in their lifetime, according to the website. But fainting has no lasting effects.
“The fainting episode is not an adverse reaction to the vaccine, but is related to her condition,” said Dr. Jesse L. Tucker, CHI Memorial physician.
On Monday, the hospital posted a video of Dover at work with her colleagues.
We are pleased to share that Tiffany Dover is doing well. Here is a short video with her today, surrounded by her colleagues who all support her. pic.twitter.com/yGyzKvwn89
