Unlike previous games in the series, Animal Crossing: New Horizons it was very incomplete when it was released in March. In a move that has upset time travelers around the world, Nintendo has decided to launch annual in-game events through year-round updates.

While this has had the benefit of keeping the buzz about the game circulating monthly on websites and social media, it has also prevented guide and video producers from going to events and shedding beans months before their debut. dictated by calendar.

But what was your favorite 2020 event in New Horizons? Well, there’s a poll that just asks you this question at the bottom of the page, but first let’s do a brief recap of all the events – big and small – that came to the desert islands of Switches around the world.

The first time the game was released on March 20, 2020 was Bunny Day, a twelve-day event in which Zipper T. Bunny sent you on an egg hunt. For many players, too many eggs came too soon after the game was launched. We still settled into the rhythm of things, trying to catch fish and dig up fossils, and instead half the time we arrived with a bloody egg.

To be fair, younger players tended to enjoy egg hunting, although we were glad to see their backs.

The last week of April saw the return of the lazy Leif and his bushes for the Nature Day event – another “day” that lasted almost two weeks. In the middle of this event was organized the May Day Event, which saw the return of the Rover villager (well, the “return” could be a bit strong – the “cameo look” is closer) in the unique May maze tour.

The second half of May was taken over by the International Museum Day Event, which tasked you with collecting stamps around the museum to collect three plaques related to fish, fossils and bugs. They were also very nice, although the completion of the Stamp Rally on other days only made you identical plates. The walls of our bathroom were full of them.

The whole month of June was taken with the Wedding Season and, although it was great to photograph ReTail lovers Cyrus and Reese on Harv Island for the first time, 30 days of doing essentially the same thing exhausted our enthusiasm. The four bug-offs and fishing tournaments spread throughout the year were much less difficult.

On Sunday evening, during the month of August, it was enlivened by the fireworks shows that reached the July update. You could make custom fireworks to fill the night sky with your custom designs and enter the Redd raffle to get your hands on prizes that are not available anywhere else.

The October Halloween event saw the return of Jack, the Tsar of Halloween, in the fall update, which also added new makeup options, costumes and pumpkins. Franklin returned to the series in time for Turkey Day, with the theme of Thanksgiving Day, on toy day, which took place just recently on Christmas Eve.

There are several events coming up in the New Year, of course, and March 20, 2021 will mark exactly one year of events. It will be most interesting to see if next year’s rehearsals are changed in any way – perhaps to give players returning new rewards or to make changes based on last year’s feedback. Surely we would have welcomed a small equipped object that automatically mixed any eggs in the water while trying to catch fish!
