Police report 10 murders in less than 12 hours

In less than 12 hours, police reported 10 murders in different regions of the island.

According to these offenses, according to the Uniformat, the number of crimes has increased to 26, which translates into 8 cases more than last year for this date.

The first incident occurred yesterday afternoon in the middle of a police chase on the Baldorioty de Castro highway, near the Mundo Feliz condominium in Carolina, which culminated in the killing of three police officers.

According to authorities, two city agents and a state agent died in hospital after receiving several gunshot wounds while following the occupants of a white 2003 Hyundai Accent, which opened fire on them.

The officers were identified as Luis Marrero Díaz, of the State Police, and Eliezer Hernández Cartagena and Luis Salamán Conde, of the Carolina Municipal Police. For this case, the Department of Justice has appointed seven prosecutors who will investigate the circumstances of the events.

A second case of violent death was reported at 16:52 at the Antiguo Chaneliz metal bridge in the Pueblo neighborhood of Saint Sebastian.

Around 6:20 pm, another crime was reported inside an abandoned structure located on the PR-586 highway in the Guayacanes sector, in the Río Cañas Arriba neighborhood of Juana Diaz.

According to the news report, a call alerted a suspect in the aforementioned abandoned structure and when Agents arrived at the scene and found a charred corpse in an advanced state of decomposition, which was not identified.

The fourth incident left one person shot dead and two others wounded by gunfire in events that took place around 19:00 on Osvaldo Molina Boulevard in Fajardo.

An hour later, a murder was reported on the PR-670 highway in the Palo Alto neighborhood of Manatee.

A call to the 9-1-1 emergency system alerted authorities to the facts and when Manatí district agents arrived they found a blue Chevrolet tow truck, plate GP167, and the body was found inside. Natanael Cotto Hernández, 35 years old, with several bullet holes in different parts of the body.

A 49-year-old woman also received several gunshot wounds related to these events and was transported to a local hospital for medical care. The injured are residents of Vega Baja.

A seventh murder was recorded on the PR-854 highway in the Media Luna sector at Hacienda Macarena in Toa Baja.

According to the news report, a call to the 9-1-1 emergency system alerted at 22:16 about some detonations, and on arrival the agents found the body of a man with several gunshot wounds.

The deceased was not identified by the authorities, but was described as white, aged between 35 and 40 years, black hair, about 5 ″ 8, weighing about 170 kilograms, wearing long denim pants and black polo.

The eighth reported violent incident, which results in the tenth death in less than 12 hours, took place around 1:59 a.m. on San José Street, at the intersection with Muñoz Rivera Boulevard, in Santurce..

Police linked the scene to the murder of three police officers, as the body they found among the garbage bags had “similar characteristics” to the alleged murder of the officers. In addition, a poster was left near the body saying that he was the alleged killer of the troops.
