Police searched a black Mercedes Benz without license plates in Riverside County, before ending up with the chase driver running in a Walmart in Orange County on Monday night.
Newschopper4 was tracked around 10:30 pm in the Anaheim Hills area, with a black car traveling at low speed on Highway 91 to the west.
The search began at 9:57 p.m., Riverside police said, adding that a passenger got out of the Riverside tracking vehicle.
The investigation began in connection with a violation of the vehicle code in Riverside County. Riverside police said the car was missing license plates and had three people inside when the search was launched.
The car was traveling at about 55 mph on the highway, so it wasn’t a high-speed chase.
Around 22:47, the car left the highway on the surface streets in the area of Buena Park and started to drive a little more irregularly, stopping suddenly from time to time.
At one of those stations, the black car stopped in the middle of the street, before a rear door of the passenger opened and a woman jumped out of the car.
Shortly after 11pm, the driver entered a shopping center in Westminster, before walking on the curb and pulling the car directly in front of the main entrance of a Walmart before running inside.
About five to 10 minutes later, police appeared to have detained someone in a nearby corner.
