Police find kitten in “suspicious package”

NEW MIAMI, Ohio (AP) – A team of police officers who answered a suspicious call at an Ohio church made an unexpected discovery: six newborn kittens and their mother in a duffel bag.

The Butler County Sheriff’s Office says his bomb team was called to a church in New Miami on Thursday. When the responding officers heard gnawing instead of ticking from the black bag, they used their X-ray equipment to see what was inside.

The one-day-old kittens and their mother were found along with a note stating that they were born on Wednesday.

“Mother’s name is Sprinkles,” the note read. “She started giving birth at 2 p.m.”

In a post on the sheriff’s Facebook page, it was said that the mother and the kittens “are doing well and are warm, comfortable and nourished”. They were cared for in a local human society.
