GROVELAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WXYZ) – Police are investigating the tragic death of a 3-year-old girl from Holly after she was brutally assaulted by her mother’s boyfriend.
Loved ones say that they are overwhelmed by sadness and pain after the girl’s death. A death that is said not to have been an accident, and we have confirmed that a suspect is being held here at Oakland County Jail, a person who is not a foreigner.
Family members say that 3-year-old Trinity Renee Chandler was an incredible joy for all those who touched her life.
“She’s smiling. She’s been smiling,” said her aunt, Ronda Osterberg. “He was a happy child and he didn’t deserve it.”
Osterberg said the news of Trinity’s sudden death left their family shattered and heartbroken. She believes that the person responsible for following her started Trinity and became physically abusive.
“She no longer had her boyfriend’s babysit. They are your lovers, but not the care of your child. There are too many stories about these mothers who left their child with friends, “she said.
Osterberg said the boyfriend, whom we do not identify because he was not charged, assaulted her at the Groveland Manor Mobile Home Park on Saturday.
MSP is launching a full investigation and arrested him after relatives said he showed up at a nearby fire station with her body.
Osterberg said Trinity’s mother’s boyfriend had a disturbing history of violence and previous problems with the law.
“She was trying to leave him and she was scared to death of him. If you are afraid of his death, do not leave your child with him, “she said.
The family created a GoFundMe to help pay for funeral expenses.
