The director of the National Civil Police (PNC) in El Salvador apologized on Friday for the murder by “mistake” of Jose Mauricio Salazar, a person with hearing disabilities who died in 2017 at the hands of agents in a city southwest of San Salvador.
“As director general of the PNC, I want to apologize for the case publicly and directly to the family, because they were very hurt by that mistake made in 2017,” the director of the force, Mauricio Arriaza, said in an audience statement.to comply with a court order.

The person responsible for “this error has already been prosecuted and convicted for the crime of aggravated homicide”, Arriaza underlined.
