In November, the Pokémon Company teased that 2021 will be a year of “very special” holidays around the 25th anniversary of the iconic series. Today, the first of these holidays was revealed.
The trailer above gives fans a nostalgic look back at the franchise’s history, with a set of certainly cute clips that follow a Poké Ball as it goes through games, trading cards and the like from years past. At the end, we see that pop superstar Katy Perry will team up with The Pokémon Company as part of the fun and there is even a small snippet of song to hear.
“It’s for everyone who started catching Pokémon … but ended up catching feelings instead,” says the Pokémon Company.
What about the upcoming holidays? Well, we can expect the involvement of several “biggest names in music” and, starting in March, the company says it will begin reviewing the many regions of the Pokémon world. A “line of cool themed collections” has also been teased, with products to be announced and launched throughout the year – including a relaunch of iconic Pokémon books and a very cool skateboard.
We are sure that there will be many more Pokémon goodies to enjoy throughout the year, but what do you hope to see from the 25th anniversary of the series? Tell us below.
