The new progressive party announced this afternoon through its social networks that Governor Pedro Pierluisi had called “as a precautionary measure, given the increase in COVID-19 infections,” the event they had planned to see the state of the state message conveyed on Capitol Hill.
The event had been called a “viewing party” by the party’s secretary general, Carmelo Ríos.
Despite the name they gave to the event, in an interview with Puerto Rico Metro, the senator had assured that it will not be “a demonstration or a party”, so only 200 people will be allowed.
Popular representatives such as Orlando José Aponte Rosario, came out yesterday to criticize the event convened by the PNP, calling it a “covid party”.
Before announcing the cancellation, the party invited people to see the message at 17:00 on networks or WIPR.
The Governor of Puerto Rico and the President of the PNP requested that as a precautionary measure, given the increase in COVID-19 infections, the activity convened by the PNP in the southern wing of the Capitol be canceled for the general public. (1/2)
