PLD re-elects its CC and expands it to 955 members

The Dominican Opposition Liberation Party (PLD) announced yesterday the changes arranged by that organization in the virtual general plenary sessions in which the re-election of its current members of the central committee was approved and agreed to create about 300 new positions in that body. which will consist of no less than 955 members who will remain in office for four years.

“The president, vice presidents and secretary general cannot hold positions in the Dominican state or can be candidates for elective positions. If they decide to aspire to an elective position, they must give up the party functions they hold before communicating their aspirations “, says one of the decisions adopted in the plenary sessions of 19, 20 and 21 of this month, as part of the decisions of the IX Ordinary Congress José Joaquín Bidó Medina.

In addition, a transitional paragraph has been approved, indicating that in the period 2021-2025, the Central Committee will be composed of the current 460 members, legislators, mayors and municipal directors elected in the March and July elections this year. Also, those “proposed by the Political Committee” and another 300 members who will be elected locally, nationally and abroad.

Advisory Committee

The PLD has also set up an advisory committee, which will be made up of members of the political committee who do not continue as part of this body.

It was approved to reduce the party’s militancy from ten to five years as one of the requirements to be a member of the Central Committee, which they said would give young people opportunities to access that body.

They also created the Electoral Justice Commission, a body that will regulate the party’s internal electoral processes.

Upgrade

A party for political training and government management will also be implemented within the party, which would function as a study body on political, electoral and public management issues. “An aspect of singular importance in approvals is the one mentioned to further strengthen the modernization of the organization, establishing that PLD will have a digital or electronic party format, which allows the development and management of all processes necessary for the life of the online party. migrate the manual processes in electronic and / or virtual formats, guaranteeing the efficiency and the improvement of the political result ”, it is specified in a document.
