PlayStation Modders unveils the world’s first water-cooled PS5

The Modding Cafe YouTube channel has created the world’s first water-cooled PlayStation 5 console. The latest generation console generates quite a lot of heat, requiring a large fan. However, water cooling is a quieter option and takes up less space. The plastic case in the modern version of Nhenhophach makes it as tall as a traditional PS5, but it seems to work on several versions, including one that will be commercially available. The modder’s YouTube channel tends to focus more on PC builds, and his next project will integrate water-cooled PS5 into a PC, according to Video Games Chronicle. A video with the creation of the mode can be found at the top of this page.

The water-cooled look is easily the highlight, but the system design also has a lot of accents that PlayStation fans should love! From the system logo on the water tank to the controller symbols cut into the frame, it’s not hard to imagine that PlayStation fans will really fall in love with this design. It certainly has a unique look, but the same can be said for the official PS5 design! With the fan gone, future versions of Nhenhophach’s PS5 may be smaller. It will be interesting to see what those models look like, especially the one that will be available for purchase.

It is always interesting to see the different ideas that moderates bring to the table. Most PlayStation fans would be happy to provide any PS5, let alone a water-cooled one, but there are plenty of gamers who would be happy to have a version that makes less noise! Water-cooled video game consoles have not yet been embraced by the industry, but it would not be surprising to see that happen in the future.

While the PS5 has only existed since November, it seems that the modders have worked hard to find alternative versions of the hardware to make and even offer for purchase. An 18-karat gold-plated version of the system is available online at a fairly high price of GBP 8000. It’s significantly less practical than the water-cooled version, but for those looking for a shiny display, it might be worth the cost!
