A few weeks ago, Nintendo announced Super Mario Bros. 35 World Count Challenge, celebrating the unveiling of Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury, asking players to … kill Bowser. That, a lot.
If players around the world collectively beat 3.5 million bowsers by January 25, at 11pm, then each participating player who beat at least one bowser will receive 350 Platinum points as a reward. The game will cease to exist on March 31, of course, so what better way to celebrate your last days than throwing Bowser mercilessly into a lava tub over and over again? It’s what he would have wanted.
The event started on January 19, so the players took 6 days to reach 1,498,560 Bowsers. By the way, it’s not like that actually halfway – more than 42% of the way. The remaining 2 million killed bowsers must be completed within the next 13 hours. Unlikely? Well, I’ve seen last minute wins in the last few minutes, haven’t I?
[update: the figure in the tweet was actually achieved on the 20th January, so the 3.5 million Bowser goal is probably well within reach. That’s much better news!]
What do you think, folks? Will we scratch a victory in the last hours or will the 350-point Platinum reward remain in our hands?
