The Pitkin County Health Council, in a special meeting Monday, did not move the county to a completely red level on the state’s COVID disk, but implemented many of the restrictions accompanying the “severe risk” level.
“These restrictions at the red level, with the ability to continue to operate restaurants, is what we need – all we can do is stop it altogether, ”said Torre, Aspen Mayor. “If each of us does our part, we can be successful in slowing down the spread of the disease in our community.”
Restaurants can continue to operate at a capacity of 25% indoors, but must stop drinking at 21:30 and must close by 22:00. In addition, restaurants can bring together members of a single household.
The new restrictions, which take effect on Tuesday, also limit gyms and offices to 10% of operating capacity. The county will also ban indoor events that have not already been filed and that have approved a safety plan for indoor events.
Monday’s health council meeting was convened to address the county’s staggering incidence rate, which is well over 1,000 per 100,000 people.
The restrictions in Pitkin County under the new public health order are as follows, as outlined in a press release Monday:
The size of the personal assembly is reduced to zero. Gather only with your own household. This applies to all accommodation reservations and accommodation.
The restaurants allowed to operate with a 25% occupancy, with the last call at 21:30 and closing at 22:00
Group camps: virtual or outdoor, no more than 10.
Critical and non-critical retail: 50% capacity, with on-board encouragement
Personal services: 25% capacity, up to 25 people
Office: 10% capacity
Gyms: 10% capacity, up to 10 people per room. Reservations required.
Events:
Outdoor guided services: capacity 25%, up to 10 people
Traveler’s affidavit: all travelers, including residents, are required to complete the traveler’s declaration (including test and quarantine requirements) if they have left Pitkin County for more than 10 days.
