Pinellas Tweaking Vaccine appointment process for seniors

It has been a frustrating process for many seniors trying to book appointments with the COVID-19 vaccine.

Now, Pinellas County is making some changes to hopefully improve the process.

Instead of having to call and try to set your own schedule, the Pinellas Health Department will now contact the elderly when it is their turn to be vaccinated.

However, the inhabitants must be registered.

Pinellas County began using the new software last month to try to alleviate the problems people were facing on the old system, which continues to collapse.

However, the new software has not been smooth.

Now, residents who are 65 or older who have previously registered will receive a text message or email as vaccination programs become available.

Once they receive that message, they have 48 hours to book appointments for both doses of the vaccine.

The county will only contact how many people have vaccines available, in the order in which they registered. Only one text or email will be sent.
