Governor Pedro Pierluisi announced today that he will award more than $ 5 million for a pilot program economic assistance for families on the island.
In the middle of his state message, the governor said that a minimum of 500 families would benefit.
As he explained, the program will be implemented to “fight poverty in Puerto Rico.”
“The program will go hand in hand with decent housing, training and community support programs,” he added.
On the other hand, Pierluisi he said he would support other socially impactful projects, such as those run by the Puerto Rican Boys and Girls Club.
“Everyone on our island deserves more and together we will join hands with those who need it most,” he said.
