Photo 1: Broken Dreams: Migrants report fraudulent deportations from the US to Mexico

Dirlan Hernández’s dream of emigrating to the United States with his son had been shattered. After a long journey from Honduras, he managed to cross the border, but says he was arrested and deceived into Mexico.
Cases like this are multiplying in Ciudad Juárez (north), Mexico, where more than 300 undocumented migrants have been returned this week alone, despite the relaxation of a number of policies by US President Joe Biden.
After spending two days in McAllen, Texas with his three-year-old son, a US agent told Dirlan, 30, that he would be transferred to Miami.
Hours later, he found that the place where they had been left, more than 1,000 km from McAllen, was not tropical Florida, but the desert of Chihuahua, Mexico.
When I looked at the flag of Mexico and looked at what Ciudad Juárez was on it, I realized. I didn’t expect they would throw us here as if nothing had happened, ”says the man, who bursts into tears in the middle of the border bridge.
