Pharrell Williams called for a federal investigation into Virginia Beach police last month, shooting the death of her cousin.
“Too many unanswered questions to the city and the state. Respectfully, I demand a federal investigation, “the Grammy-winning singer wrote in a post on Monday on Instagram about the fatal shooting of her 25-year-old relative, Donovan Lynch.
Lynch was shot by police a block away from a separate Virginia Beach shooting that left eight people injured.
The Virginia Beach Police Department said Lynch was armed with a handgun when an officer shot him.
The officer’s body of the officer who fired the deadly fire was not started during the shooting, which caused public outrage.
Investigations into the shooting by the Commonwealth Prosecutor’s Office and the Virginia State Police are ongoing.
Lynch, a Virginia Beach resident, was an offensive line officer for the University of Virginia College of Wise in the 2017 and 2018 seasons and a 2019 school graduate.
