Pharmacist “Superman” vaccinates thousands at high school in Montgomery County

LANSDALE, Pennsylvania (WPVI) – A mass vaccination clinic at a high school in Montgomery County has allowed thousands of people to receive their first photos on Sunday.

Skippack Pharmacy has partnered with North Penn High School to vaccinate 3,000 people in Phase 1a. The clinic vaccinated residents at a rate of 300 people per hour.

Dressed in Superman, pharmacist Mayank Amin says he represents all the health heroes who save lives during the pandemic.

“When I wear this suit, it definitely brings out the smiles of many people who come to these clinics,” he said.

He says the pharmacy has vaccinated 11,000 people since February. Sunday’s clinic is especially special to him – he’s at North Penn High School, his alma mater.

“I graduated in 2003 and it has been a part of my heart ever since. In the halls we walk through today, the gyms where we used to play basketball and now we are here to help 3,000 people,” Amin said.

He has 250 volunteers who help him in the 12-hour clinic, where both Moderna and Pfizer vaccines are available.

“I think it’s so well organized. I didn’t expect it. When I saw all these people, I thought about my kindness,” said Theresa Cucchi of Chesterbrook.

In the waiting area after vaccination, some patients wrote notes to thank the pharmacy.

“It’s good because maybe I’ll see my family again. I miss my friends,” said April Marro of Harleysville.

Some have said that Amin was a hero to the community.

“Just the whole Superman outfit and I’ve read so many articles about him doing this for the community, going to people’s homes and so on. I’m very grateful to him. That’s for sure,” said Nemo Perera of Phoenixville.

The pharmacy says all those who received the first doses at the clinic will be contacted about scheduling the second meeting sometime next month.
