The new COVID-19 vaccines are being rolled out, so every little help helps as the country tries to return to normal. That being said, it’s a bad time for anyone else to find out that a Wisconsin pharmacist has sabotaged more than 500 doses of the Modern vaccine. This number goes a long way because the process per person requires two doses.
In a press release posted on Facebook, the Grafton Police Department said they were called to the Aurora Advocate Health Hospital in Grafton on Wednesday in a report that a former employee intentionally removed vaccines from cold stores and left them over night. Health professionals said this made 570 doses “unnecessary”, police said.
Incidentally, this was previously thought to be an accident, but Aurora Health said they found out that the pharmacist did it on purpose. The former employee in question allegedly acknowledged in writing that he had deliberately ruled out the vaccine, knowing that improperly stored vaccines would be ruined. Detectives suggested that the defendant knew that the pampered vaccinations would be useless and that the people who received them would think they were vaccinated when in fact they were not.
Police said 57 of these doses were given to patients, but, citing health officials, there were no health problems due to the damage. The lost value was estimated at between $ 8,000 and $ 11,000.
The Grafton Police Department did not identify the defendant, saying he must be formally informed of his allegations. They only said that he was a “former employee of Aurora Health”, who was arrested for the first degree, who recklessly endangered safety, adulterated a prescription drug and criminally damaged the properties. They said he was being held at Ozaukee County Jail. As previously mentioned, a Steven Brandenburg is in Ozaukee County Jail.
The records viewed by Law & Crime show that he is being held in two heads: a second-degree one that endangers safety and criminal damage to property. He was arrested on Thursday. Online registrations name a “Steven R. Brandenburg” as a pharmacist in the village of Saukville, Ozaukee County. In any case, it is not clear whether the Bradenburg detainee has a criminal record.
