Pfizer plans to use mRNA technology to make new vaccines against other viruses following the success of its Covid-19 photo, which was developed with German partner BioNTech, The Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday.

The drug manufacturer said it was ready to track mRNA alone after its experience in the last year of working with the COVID-19 vaccine, the WSJ reported, citing an interview with Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla.

However, he did not reveal any details about the targeted viruses.

Pfizer and BioNTech did not immediately respond to Reuters’ requests for comment.

Covf-19 Pfizer / BioNTech and Moderna vaccines, authorized for emergency use in the United States, use mRNA technology.

The success of technology has led drug developers to consider using it in other areas of medicine beyond vaccines, attracting billions of dollars in investment.
