Round 3, 83rd Total: QB Kellen Mond, Texas A&M
We’ll see if Mond is still available here. He could be gone in the 45-70 range. If Mond isn’t here, other potential options include Florida’s Kyle Trask, Stanford’s Davis Mills or Wake Forest’s Jamie Newman.
Mond fits the Patriots as a passer and has the mobility to start.
Round 4, 120th overall: CB Ambry Thomas, Michigan
Thomas gave up the 2020 season, which could lead him to tear down the project boards. He left only 25 catches on 47 targets for 332 yards, with one touchdown and three interceptions in 2019 with Wolverines.
The quick corner executed a line of 4.41 seconds, 40 yards, at 6 meters, 191 pounds. The Patriots have broken away from Michigan in recent years.
Round 4, 122nd Total: LB Derrick Barnes, Purdue
Barnes is the great typical prototype of a linebacker descent. He is slightly shorter, just over 6 feet, but has long arms (33 3/8 inches) for his height. He also has experience in the defensive end.
Round 4, 139th place Total: OT Tommy Doyle, Miami (OH)
Doyle is an offensive attack in the mold Nate Solder or Sebastian Vollmer at 6-feet-8, 320 pounds. He is an impressive athlete for his size.
Round 5, 177th place Total: RB Elijah Mitchell, Louisiana
Mitchell is undersized, but fast and quick and comes with off-field receiving experience. It could become the Patriots’ next down third.
Round 6: 188th Total: DT Khyiris Tonga, BYU
The Patriots only have a prototype nose attack on their Davon Godchaux list. Tonga had a difficult time in the middle of the pitch for the Cougars.
Stage 6, 197th place Total: S Darrick Forrest, Cincinnati
Patriots need free development safety on their roster, with Devin McCourty getting older. Forrest has the speed and speed to burn at 6 feet, 206 pounds, with a speed of 4.41 seconds of 40 meters.
Round 7, 242nd Total: C Jimmy Morrissey, Pittsburgh
Patriots do not care about undersized centers. They tried to take a development center in the seventh round of last year’s project, but Dustin Woodard withdrew before camp. After they did not retire, the Patriots released Woodard this spring. Morrissey fits in the same mold.
