A vaccination clinic scheduled for Thursday in Pasadena has been rescheduled after a registration link was shared with a large group of people who are not yet eligible for the vaccine, city officials said.
The recording link was sent to a group of entertainment, news and production people, according to the city. The group is not eligible for vaccinations according to state regulations, unless they meet other criteria. Some people who are not residents of Pasadena have also been contacted, city officials said.

It is believed that more than half of the 1,500 appointments for Thursday’s clinic were made by ineligible people. The clinic was canceled on Thursday due to the violation, city officials said.
The violation was brought to the city’s attention by a Los Angeles Times reporter who called to ask if the connection was legitimate.
“I sent it to those at the eligible levels, but with a big red font – don’t share that connection with others who aren’t eligible,” said Lisa Derderian, the city’s public intelligence officer. “If there’s a question, he should make that phone call, as this LA Times reporter did.”
The call was the only one received from someone who questioned the registration link, Derderian said.
Initially, anyone who is not eligible and received the link was advised to cancel their appointment. City officials said Tuesday morning that the clinic had been canceled.
Vaccinations are available for the following groups listed on the Pasadena Department of Health website.
- Medical care provides direct care
- Residents and staff of long-term care institutions
- People aged 65 and over
- Child care and education workers K-12
- Food and agricultural workers.
“People who tried to register for vaccination before their turn will not receive the vaccine,” the city said in a statement. “Please wait your turn. Unfortunate circumstances like this inhibit our ability to vaccinate residents as soon as possible. ”
Attempts to cross the line and obtain the vaccine have been repeatedly condemned by state and local health officials, but the problem has persisted. Los Angeles County health officials have been working on issues of obtaining what should have been secure registration codes to make appointments at vaccine clinics reserved for certain groups of residents.
The problem was highlighted when Governor Gavin Newsom made an appearance at a public housing complex in the county, where a vaccination clinic was set up for low-income residents in the neighborhood, using a dedicated programming registration code.
