Parents are reacting to the Michigan mask mandate, which extends to children up to 2 years old

Michigan has extended a COVID-19 order that has implemented restrictions on gatherings, restaurants, entertainment venues and more.

The state Department of Health and Human Services has expanded the mask requirements to include children between the ages of 2 and 4.

The order is valid until May 24.

Dane and Tiffany Teal, who are Davis’ parents, will soon be 3 years old, worried that the new state rules could put parents in a difficult place.

“Many people may not understand two-year-olds, and especially our two-year-olds. He is a master negotiator. He knows how to get what he wants and if he doesn’t wear a mask, he will behave like a two-year-old child “, said Dane Teal.

“There are great chances to take her out, to leave her. It will probably get dirty if it lands on the floor and then you should put it on your face, ”said Tiffany Teal.

Dr. Rudolph Valentini knows that it will be a struggle to mask young children, but he believes that the benefits outweigh the disadvantages.

“The mask is a two-way street. It protects the person wearing it and the person on the other side of the mask “, said Valentini.

Teal said they would make the effort, but, like many parents, they have no problem giving up the white flag if it gets too fierce.

“I do not expect it to last all day. I’m not going to force him too much and upset him, “said Tiffany Teal.
