Panorama of Rafael Santos Borré: renewal with River Plate, offers from Brazil and nationality procedure | Colombians abroad

These are full days for Rafael Santos Borré, although it is not exactly the competition.

The Colombian is negotiating with River Plate for the continuity of a contract that expires next June, at the same time analyzing other offers and even looking for the release of a foreign quota, if this helps to unblock the situation.

In the first point, at this moment the player has the legal right to listen to offers. The negotiations, in any case, pass through Atlético de Madrid, because the Argentines have 50 percent of the rights, and the Spaniards the other half.

And in the face of this scenario, the first rumors are coming from Brazil. According to journalist Mauro Sant Anna, the attacker was offered to Flamengo, one of the great men of that country and who might need an attacker of his characteristics. It is a fact that one of the two conditions should be met for this: to wait for the completion of his current contract or to pay the $ 30 million clause. The latter option does not seem viable for Brazilians or for virtually any other contender, given the crisis conditions in the market.

Therefore, the option for River is urgent, subject to the loss of investment, is to convince him to stay through bonuses, improved wages and other benefits. And at that moment another edge appears: the status of foreign player.

According to the newspaper Olé, Borré and Nicolás de la Cruz are waiting for the Argentine nationality process, but they have a difficulty, also pressed by the pandemic: the subscription book closes on February 11 and there will be a judicial job until January 31, which means this time is very short and it may not release quotas for foreigners this season. This would eliminate the Colombian’s economic advantages in a possible renovation.

Thus, Borré’s future seems to be linked to River, but with more conditions. Someone could “fish in a troubled river” if he appears with hard money, which the team called “millionaire” curiously does not have today.
