The Spanish hotel chain Palladium ensures that all security and prevention measures against covid-19 were met at the end-of-year party held at a hotel of its property in Playa Bávaro, Dominican Republic, which was sanctioned by the Government the Caribbean country with about 56,500 euros.
In a statement issued today, the company defends the event organized at its hotel, which the Dominican authorities described as “unacceptable”, because hotels are forbidden to organize parties, concerts or other events until January 10, a measures taken by the coronavirus pandemic.
For this reason, the Dominican Ministry of Tourism and Public Health, in addition to imposing a sanction, warned Palladiun that if the situation recurred, he would see “his operating license suspended.”
In the statement, the Spanish hotel chain said that at the holiday there was 27.9% of the capacity of the outdoor space, “a figure significantly below 40%” allowed.
In addition, he explains that temperature control was carried out on the arrival of all participants, gel dispensers were made available at all entrances and strict social distance measures were taken, separating the tables by at least 3.5 meters and with a maximum of 6 people on the table.
Palladium justifies the fact that the published videos of the holiday provide a “biased view” of what happened, “because they are images recorded at ground level, without a sufficient perspective of the distance between the tables” and therefore “are not representative of security with that the celebration took place ”.
Therefore, the company points out that not only did it constantly comply with local regulations, “but it acted in different circumstances in an exemplary manner”.
The tourism cabinet fined the amount of 4 million pesos to the above-mentioned unit, after non-compliance with the health regulations of December 31.
According to the statement, the hotel violated the regulations of the Cabinet, especially with the resolution DJ 05/2020, which forbids these units to organize parties until Sunday, January 10.
