A painting of a street scene in Paris by Vincent Van Gogh was presented to the public for the first time. On Wednesday, the British auction company Sotheby’s announced that the 1887 painting would be presented for the first time in Hong Kong, Amsterdam and Paris.

Van Gogh’s painting is set to be auctioned in March and is expected to sell for up to $ 7 million. The auction company said the painting was previously privately owned and had never been seen in person.

“The painting is a real rediscovery, which means that although it has been published in comprehensive catalogs, it has never reappeared on the market since it was purchased by the family that owns it,” said Claudia Mercier, Sotheby’s auctioneer. “So, more than a century has passed since this painting was in private hands.”
