It is official: Outriders, the much-anticipated robbery of People Can Fly, comes to Xbox Game Pass, Microsoft confirmed in a blog post today. It will be available from April 1.

Last week, the equally naughty Xbox Game Pass on Twitter posted another “leaked” email from “Melissa McGamepass“, Allusion to the news. Friday, a lot of games published by Bethesda have been added to the Game Pass library. But it seems there were more“Something about a new, unannounced game that comes with Microsoft’s on-demand gaming service.” The note also referred to a “mysterious signal” and an “anomaly”.

Some observers, including KotakuSlack’s own channel, quickly attracted the connection to Outriders. Last month, People Can Fly provided a demo for the game. At the end of the demonstration, you are informed of a signal that is being transmitted from a remote location. You set out to explore it, but you’re stopped by one of those tiring “Pre-order our game” screens. (Don’t pre-order the game.) Also, Outriders he makes a lot of fuss about an “anomaly” – a persistent storm that affects the planet Enoch, where the game takes place. It didn’t take long for the players to read between the lines.

Outriders demo rules, by the way, and are available for almost all platforms (except Switch). If you are in love with third-person shooters, prey cakes, western-themed space opera, cheese one-liners or social hubs, you should check it.

People can fly say you can transfer progress between the demo and the main game, as long as you stay in the same platform family. So if you’ve played the demo three times on PlayStation, you’ll need to start from zero on Xbox. But if you’ve played it – or are playing it – on Xbox, you’ll be able to pass on your progress at the launch of the main game. (Outriders fully supports cross game.)

It’s still a huge nab for the Xbox Game Pass. The addition of Bethesda games is huge, obviously, as is the relatively recent addition of EA Play (at least for subscribers to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate). And then there’s continuous access to any Microsoft game from the first part, an advantage that speaks for itself.

But consider the call Outriders. There is a demo for the game available now. You can only carry your data if you stay with the same platform. So, if you have access to several platforms, which one would you choose to play: the one where you should get the full price for a new game? Or the one that will be included in the service that you most likely already pay for? Today’s announcement makes the choice much easier.
