Only one dose of coronavirus vaccine is required for previously infected people – POLITICO

The coronavirus vaccine should be given to people who already have COVID-19, the French health authority announced on Friday.

Since December, it has been recommended that this group wait three months after recovery before receiving a first dose. But in today’s statement from the Haute Autorité de Santé, that interval was extended to six months. HAS also recommended that they need a single dose rather than two.

The latest immunological research suggests that humans have natural protection after COVID-19 for almost up to six months, HAS explained.

However, there are two exceptions. Those who are immunosuppressed should be vaccinated according to the two-dose schedule within three months of the onset of infection. And people who received a first dose, but then develop an infection in the days after the injection, should not receive the second dose within the usual time frame, but within three to six months of infection.
