Yaun had just taken off work and the two were happy to relax with a massage. While they were being treated in separate rooms, González heard the gunfire ringing.
When the police arrived on the scene, González told Mundo Hispánico that he had been put in the back of a patrol vehicle and was being held by the authorities. He tried to get information about what happened to his wife, but said his questions were initially answered.
González told Mundo Hispánico that he was being held for about four hours, until the investigation led authorities to Long as a suspect.
“When they found out I was the husband, they told me she was dead,” he said. “I wanted to know sooner.”
González said he was frustrated with the way he was being treated, suggesting it was “maybe because I’m Mexican.”
In the video interview with Mundo Hispánico, he pointed to markings on his arm that seemed to come from the handcuffs he had the day before.
CNN has tried to reach González, but it has so far failed.
The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office did not respond to a request for comment.
A family torn apart
The couple had recently married and, according to Yaun’s sister, Dana Toole, had an 8-month-old daughter.
Toole said her sister always put her family first, and Delaina had a “wonderful, happy, cheerful personality.”
Her family came first. Everything was her family, ”Toole said.
Tool said the couple went to the spa to spend some time together.
“They were just going to have some alone time, husband and wife,” she said. “Unfortunately it went bad. It went bad very quickly.”
Yaun also leaves behind a 13-year-old son.
“They took the most valuable of my life from me,” González told the publication, adding, “This killer who killed my wife left me alone in pain.”
A department with questions
“He had had enough and had been a bit at the end of his rope,” Captain Jay Baker said at a news conference last week. “Yesterday was a really bad day for him and this is what he did.”
