Panasonic hopes to win the crowd of games with its new OLED flagship. Get a ticket, buddy.

Panasonic says the new JZ2000 OLED, which will come in 55-inch and 65-inch screen sizes, will have higher peak and mid-brightness levels, a sound system with side and up speakers, and a gamer – focused features such as variable refresh rate (VRR). It is not clear whether the display supports other HDMI 2.1 features, such as automatic low latency (ALLM) mode. (I asked Panasonic and we’ll update when we hear.) But it will have features via Game Mode Extreme that work to reduce latency and provide a smoother gaming experience.

OLED will also be launched with a new processor called HCX Pro AI, which Panasonic says it analyzes and improves sound and image quality in real time. Like other TV producers who have just advertised new powerful processors and the AI renewal this year, Panasonic says its TV will be able to adjust the sound and images to make them look more realistic. It also comes with a Filmmaker mode that adjusts the image settings based on ambient light environments.

In terms of its sound capabilities, Panasonic says that its flagship OLED model from 2021 will include both side speakers and unit speakers, which can provide a Dolby Atmos experience. It is quite demanding and it is very difficult to remove the height without the addition of surround speakers. But the company says the JZ2000 can make “directional sounds” due in part to the addition of more speakers than have been included on previous models.

On the front of the features, the JZ2000 will be equipped with the latest version of the native My Screen Home operating system, which also has a new user interface. OLED also supports Dolby Vision IQ, Dolby Vision, HDR10 + and HLG Photo, as well as voice control functions. In addition, a smart feature called Dual Bluetooth Connection will allow two people to connect two different Bluetooth devices, such as headphones, to the TV at the same time for shared and quiet listening.

Panasonic says it has not yet finalized its distribution plans for the United States and no price has been announced yet. But at least in terms of games, Panasonic certainly has some competition.
