NEW YORK – Nearly 2,900 new cases of coronavirus have been reported in the city in the past 24 hours, and another 201 people have been hospitalized.
City Hall said Thursday that 2,890 new COVID-19 cases were reported in the city last day.
The average seven-day positivity rate in New York is 6.29%, up slightly from the previous day.

At the state level, 12,568 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed out of 226,296 tests.
The positivity rate of the state amounts to 5.55%.
COVID-19 hospitalizations in the state now amount to 6,928. One thousand one hundred and sixty patients are now in the ICU, of which 621 are intubated, according to the office of Governor Andrew Cuomo. In the spring, hospitalizations in New York State peaked at about 18,000 people.

One hundred and twenty-nine people in New York State have died of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. The confirmed number of state deaths is 29,149.
