North Carolina County’s latest colored alert map shows 27 counties in red as trends move in the right direction

The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services updated the COVID-19 County Alert System on Monday.

The latest map shows that 27 counties are currently on the red – a decrease from 61 red counties in the previous report.

This is the least number of red counties in the state since the beginning of the county alert system.

“With North Carolina continuing to target 3W and more than a million people in the state receiving at least one first dose of vaccine, we are slowing the spread and saving lives,” said NCDHHS Secretary Mandy K. Cohen, MD. up. “

The update also lists 40 orange counties and 33 yellow counties – both changes from 33 orange counties and 6 yellow counties on February 4th.

NCDHHS said in a press release that while key values in North Carolina remain high, they are moving in a positive direction, with declining trends in the number of COVID-19 cases reported each day, with people being hospitalized with COVID-19, people in intensive care unit and the percentage of positive tests.

Health officials said people in all counties should continue to limit public interactions to essential activities, avoid gathering with others outside their household, and continue to adhere to the 3W.

The number of deaths in the US COVID-19 exceeds 500,000 stages during the vaccination race

Red and orange counties need to do even more to slow the spread of COVID-19 in their communities; it is highly recommended that these counties go further and build on the current requirements set out in the county alert system.

COVID-19 County Alert System uses COVID-19 case rates, percentage of positive tests and the impact of the county hospital to classify counties into the following levels:
Yellow: significant community spread
Orange: substantial community spread
Red: critical community outreach
