Nintendo’s sealed blue Pokemon game amazes the fan after missing more than 20 years

A Pokemon fan was shocked when their parents revealed a gift they had lost more than 20 years ago: a sealed copy of it Pokemon Blue for Nintendo Game Boy! The story was posted on Reddit by user Lanai, who also shared a picture of the game, looking as clean as when it was released in North America in 1998. As many users pointed out, the sealed copies of the game is worth a significant amount of money on eBay. A copy rated at 9.4 can be found right now for about $ 20,000 and it’s not hard to imagine that this copy gets a similar grade.

Lana’s original Reddit post can be found embedded below.

My parents called and asked if I was interested in a new Pokemon game. I didn’t expect exactly that. from r / gaming

The oldest Pokemon products tend to go for very large amounts at this time, especially if they received a high grade. However, it is worth noting that Lanai is not going to sell the game. In a later post, the Reddit user explained that their parents intended to give them the game as a birthday present. When he got lost, they bought him a copy of Pokemon Red, instead. Lanai went into detail about how much the Pokemon franchise meant to them and all the wonderful memories they played with family members. As such, the gift is much more significant than money!

Given the massive popularity of Red and Blue Pokemon, it is not surprising that sealed copies are worth so much. After all, most people who bought the game were more likely to open it to play, rather than keep it sealed. In fact, this is why many older games tend to sell so much among collectors!

It’s very nice to hear stories like this. At a time when everyone seems to be looking for Pokemon merchandise that can be returned for big money, a longtime fan of the franchise has been given a gift that anyone would be more than happy to have! Maybe Lanai will eventually decide to sell, but for now they have an incredible new piece for their Pokemon collection.
