With a new year coming, the all-new Switch games are coming, and while January is traditionally a quiet month for new releases, there were a few more absolute crackers to enjoy this time around.
These awards aim to celebrate the best of the Nintendo digital store, giving a certain love and attention to games that could be so easily missed in the ever-growing library of the Switch.
So let’s get started. Here are the best Switch eShop games from January 2021!

While these titles have not reached our top this month, they are definitely worth checking out.

Third place this month is Hitman 3 – Cloud Version, an imperfect, but more than functional, version of the latest version of IO Interactive. Streaming will never be the best solution when it comes to gaming – you’ll need a particularly strong internet connection to enjoy it – but for switch owners who don’t have access to another system, this version offers at least one welcome option.
As for the game itself, I described it as “a suitable reference for one of the great protagonists of the games”, giving the Switch version an 8/10. If you need an internet connection, it is definitely worth a try.

In second place is Scott Pilgrim vs. The World: The Game – Complete Edition – and no, we didn’t let Zion vote for him 300 times as he asked us to, We promise.
Another fantastic beat to enjoy on the Switch, this latest version of Scott Pilgrim presents a bombastic presentation and a crunchy fighting game that we all hoped for. There are a few peaks of difficulty that put a slight shock in the procedures, but it is still easy to recommend for us and one that has taken the NL team by storm in the last two weeks.

Speaking of assaulting the team, first of all we have Cyber Shadow – a game that surpassed our vote ranking by a mile this month.
From Mechanical Head and Yacht Club games, Cyber Shadow is an absolute must for fans of retro action platforms. With well-built levels, authentic presentation, tight controls and a high but pleasant difficulty, the game is a supreme and focused experience that we can easily say is worth the time.
If you have the budget to pick up another game from last month, definitely consider it.
How we decide our eShop selects the first three: As we reach the end of each month, Nintendo Life staff vote on their favorite titles from a list of games selected by the editorial team. To qualify for this list, these games must have been released as a Nintendo Switch eShop digital title that month and must have been reviewed on Nintendo Life; we select the skill games based on their scores. Staff are then asked to vote on three games they think are worth staying at the top of the list; the first choice gets 3 points, the second choice gets 2 points, and the third choice gets 1 point. These votes are then calculated to create a list of the top three, with the overall winner receiving the highest prize of the month.
