Nintendo Life eShop Select – December 2020 – Feature

EShop Select

December was another busy month on the Nintendo Switch eShop, with lots of fantastic games to choose from for holiday fun. Of course, then, we should probably take out the old Nintendo Life eShop Selects awards!

These awards aim to celebrate the best of the Nintendo digital store, giving a certain love and attention to games that could be so easily missed in the ever-growing library of the Switch.

So let’s get started. Here are the best Switch eShop games from December 2020!

Honorable mentions:

Although these titles did not rank first this month, they are definitely worth checking out.

Dicey Dungeons (Switch eShop)Dicey Dungeons (Switch eShop)

Editor: Distractionware / developer: Distractionware

Release day: December 15, 2020 (United States of America) / December 15, 2020 (Great Britain / EU)

Third place this month is Dicey Dungeons, a cute, angry but dangerous pleasant adventure roguelike. The game takes place in a bizarre game show, in which players are transformed into a game mold and must make their way through a series of treacherous and changing dungeons, led by chance. In our review, we gave him a very strong 9/10, praising its variety of gameplay, music and fighting system. Make sure you read and download the game if it sounds like it could be your business.

Among us (eShop Switch)Among us (eShop Switch)

Editor: Innersloth / developer: Innersloth

Release day: December 15, 2020 (United States of America) / December 15, 2020 (Great Britain / EU)

In second place is one you’ve probably heard of, even if you haven’t had a chance to play it yet: Among Us. It has taken the gaming world by storm over the eleven blockages we’ve faced recently, so it’s no wonder the Nintendo Life team had so much fun with it now that it’s finally on the Switch.

You’ll need a group of friends and a separate voice chat app to get the most out of it, but when these barriers are overcome, what we have here is an instantly accessible and super-addictive casual gaming experience, perfect for getting online -togethers. Watch it if you haven’t already!

DOOM Eternal (Switch eShop)DOOM Eternal (Switch eShop)

Editor: Bethesda / developer: Software id

Release day: December 8, 2020 (United States of America) / December 8, 2020 (Great Britain / EU)

And taking gold is a game that, no doubt, should not have even qualified for prizes. Yes, the Eternal DOOM is technical an exclusively digital eShop game on the Nintendo platform, which means that despite its huge fan base and its equally large budget, it really meets our strict criteria.

Of course, the big point with this is the severe visual degradation, but unfortunately essential, necessary for the game to run nicely on the Switch. Admittedly, it looks much better on other systems, but the fact that the Panic button worked on a small portable tablet – at 30 fps solid, no less – is remarkable.

Consider that the game itself is yet another wonderful, bloody, demonic journey through Hell, which is as satisfying as you would hope and it becomes quite easy to see why I nominated this as the best choice. our bundle. Rip and tear, people. RIP. And. Breaking.

How we decide our eShop selects the first three: As we reach the end of each month, Nintendo Life staff vote on their favorite titles from a list of games selected by the editorial team. To qualify for this list, these games must have been released as a Nintendo Switch eShop digital title that month and must have been reviewed on Nintendo Life; we select the skill games based on their scores.

Staff are then asked to vote on three games they think are worth staying at the top of the list; the first choice gets 3 points, the second choice gets 2 points, and the third choice gets 1 point. These votes are then calculated to create a list of the top three, with the overall winner receiving the highest prize of the month.
