Nintendo DS Platformer Monster Tale makes a comeback on modern consoles

The story of the monster

Majesco Entertainment has announced that it will offer the Nintendo DS Monster Tale platform a new spin on the current hardware.

Currently, only for “modern gaming platforms” – although, you would imagine that Switch is a safe bet, the original being exclusively for Nintendo – Monster Tale will be relaunched later this year. Fans of the game will no doubt remember his half-platformed, half-pet-friendly gameplay, with the role of Ellie and Chomp, a monster-man, a duo tasked with escaping Monster World from the evil Kid- Kings.

It first appeared on the DS in 2011, with a possible 3DS version set to be named Monster Tale Ultimate being announced a few years later. Unfortunately, that game never arrived, so this new version will probably give fans the “Ultimate” game they were hoping for.

Players of Monster Tale experience a seamless blend of classic styles of puzzle-platformer games, Metroidvania and pet management, as they seek to escape the fantastic Monster World from the evil war group Kid-Kings. Working together, Ellie and Chomp must learn new skills to bring the world back into the legitimate hands of the monsters and help Ellie return home.

Monster Tale presents a beautiful world made of 2D pixel artwork reminiscent of classic titles from the 90’s. As players explore the world like Ellie, they will unlock new skills that they will use to overcome the obstacles they face. They will also help train her companion monster Chomp so that he can evolve and help Ellie in their adventures.

We’ll keep an eye out for more news on this as we progress through the year, but feel free to let us know if you’ve played or not with a comment below. Do we hope that this new version will reach Switch?
