Nintendo and Microsoft are teaming up for a new service

Nintendo Switch Concierge is a new service that allows console owners to learn more about their system. Switch owners can schedule a meeting with Nintendo representatives through Microsoft Teams to discuss a number of potential topics, including personalization, games to play, Security and privacy, and more. The service is “open only to those who have recently purchased a Nintendo Switch system,” although Nintendo has not provided a specific window. Regardless, it’s interesting to see Nintendo using Microsoft technology for this type of service, and it’s just another indication of how the relationship between the two companies has grown since Microsoft first entered the console!

Those interested in checking out the Nintendo Switch Concierge service should keep in mind that there are a handful of restrictions. Users must be at least 18 years old and limited to one session per person. Nintendo also reserves the right to collect videos “about you, your voice and your surroundings to interact with you, answer your questions, and allow Nintendo to provide you with the requested service.” The service is completely free.

While Concierge would not be possible without Microsoft, there is something inherently similar to Nintendo about the concept; after all, this is the same company that created things like the Nintendo Power Line! Nintendo Switch Concierge sounds like a spiritual evolution of this type of concept, although players probably won’t get any real advice about games. However, the idea of getting Nintendo help directly from the company is almost as old as the NES. Since Switch currently works pretty well for Nintendo, it only makes sense that the company would look for ways to accommodate newcomers!

It will be interesting to see if new users accept the option or not and how useful it will be! There are certainly a lot of promises of the concept, but it remains to be seen exactly how it will work in practice. Many users may not feel comfortable talking to a company representative, and the concept of registration may stop others.
