New York is calling for action after discovering more cases of the new variant of COVID-19

NY – New York Governor Andrew Cuomo again demanded measures from the federal government this Saturday to end the new form of COVID-19 discovered in the UK after discovering three new cases in the state .

Five days after New York first became infected with this variant of the virus, New York today announced three more, two of which were related to that first case and another without any relationship.

‘There is no mystery as to how it got here. He got on the plane and flew here from Europe, just like the original kind, ”noted Cuomo. at a press conference, in which he again blamed the federal government for not having to test all international travelers.

“His lack of action means that the rest of us need to be much more vigilant in our work to stop enlargement, and do everything we can to speed up the distribution of vaccines,” added the Democratic politician.

Dozens of cases of the new variant of the coronavirus have already been discovered around the United States, which apparently is more easily transmitted, although it does not appear to cause more serious symptoms.

According to the first studies, the vaccines developed so far should also be effective against this strain.

Since the variant was discovered in the United Kingdom, the New York authorities have demanded stricter measures from Washington to control progress in the United States and, in the absence of responses, have taken action themselves.

For example, Cuomo has agreed with the airlines connecting UK airports with those in New York to test passengers and increased vigilance over the quarantines to which those arriving in the state, especially from the UK, should be subjected.

The governor also announced that a new record for COVID-19 testing in the state had been set the previous day, totaling more than 258,000, for a population of just under 20 million people.

Of these, 6.57% were positive, while 188 deaths were recorded.

According to the state census, a total of 31,519 people in New York have died from the coronavirus, out of the nearly 370,000 who have died in the United States.
